Block Paving
Block Paved Drive to a Pair of New Builds
Shared access and parking for two new houses and a detached garage.
Shared accesses take more traffic than a single household drive and they take it in more directions, so the build-up here went in heavier than a standard domestic specification.
What the job involved
Reduced level dig across the full area, spoil away, and a deep compacted Type 1 sub-base built up in layers. The turning area in front of the garage sees the most twisting load — cars manoeuvring rather than driving straight — which is exactly where a thin base fails first.
Blocks laid to a herringbone-based random pattern for interlock, edges cut in on a wet saw, then vibrated and jointed with kiln-dried sand.
